I never had anything to do with Blue Star. However I remember walking back through the Royal Docks int the 50's and thinking how impressive their vesels were, and this certainly bears that out. This is a most perfect and powerful image of a bygone era.

I agree with you , Torrens , I think half of it was due to their magnificent funnels , probably only ''Blu Flu'' matched them for that.

You may be interested to know that the Greek who bought the ''Scottish Star'' ''As Is,Where Is'' Sue z had her towed to a shipyard in the Piraeus area and discharged all the inward Australian cargo . He made twice over what he paid for her by the sale of the Wool and Wolfram aboard and some Lead Ingots. The Apples and Pears just turned to pulp and had to be shovelled out. He then took the derricksw and winches from the 'Scottish Star'' and installed them on one of his 40,000 dwat gearless bulkers which had 7 ho/ha., Apparently it worked a treat (Thumb) The ''Scottish Star'' was then scrapped .
