Looks a tad windy, would that account for both anchors being out. Great photo, Three Graces looking somewhat gruby.

January 31st, 1953 - I remember it well. "Princess Victoria" and 133 lives lost in Irish Sea. R.I.P.

I sailed in her as Apprentice on her last trip for Papayanni's, Sept to November 1964. She was sold the day after we paid off on 5 November.

I sad ship by then, neglected.

What flags is she flying on her foremast? The top flag may be " U" "You are standing into danger"? The bottom one may be "M" "I have a doctor on board"? I can't decipher the middle one? Or taken topgether do the three flags spell out a message?

Can I suggest top flag is L, dark colour in wrong quarters for U.
Next could be I.
Agree bottom is M.
Could be as you suggest a group.

Isn't M "My vessel is stopped and making no way through the water."? That would make sense, however the upper two flags (L and I as far as I can make out) make little sense separately and must be a group.
