I think that was Ranee III, built in 1950 by Lithgows Port Glasgow, Triple expansion with LP turbine by Rankin & Blackmore Greenock.

Ranee was a frequent Hong Kong visitor in the 60's, so was the ' Rajah ' too , was with B&I funnel at that time doing HK - Burma, India route

William Wong, I think she was only on charter to Brocklebanks for 1 - at most 2 years, I did see her at Madras later in the 60`s - cannot remember year - with a different funnel

I think she was either Nourse Line or Asiatic which were both owned by P and O.
Probably at the time on charter to BISNCo (also owned by P and O!) Nourse Line, Asiatic and Hains later became Hain-Nourse.

regards
Dave

Gentlemen,

She also appeared in all black funnel at one time under P.O., but she never showed up in HKG again, as far as I can remember , since 1962

Hi,

I served on this vessel in 1963 as 3rd Mate then for a short time as 2nd Mate.Had been an apprentice with Asiatic and this was my first posting after getting 2nd Mates. She was owned by Asiatic Steam ans was on charter to BI at that time running from Calcutta and east coast indian ports to the far east. These vessels made very infrequent voyages west of suez. I have jopined this community thus it appears I am about 3 years late with this enquiry.Dave
