Not my favourite ferry route...but any port in a storm...Lymington-Yarmouth was always my preferred route...but then I did live in the West Wight so it was much more convenient.
Dogue, I moved away some years back, when I was 5!! though I have happy memories things were a tad quieter and safer in those days....Family are still living on the Island, Shanklin and Ventnor mostly...... Are you a Vectisian?
I was born in Essex but my parents connections go back to the Island long before the Second World War. We lived just off Victoria Rd between Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay and our house was tucked away at the back of the High Down with Tennysons Cross quite evident.
A very nice place to live, and I still consider it to be 'home' in the UK and that I am in all consciousness a Wighter or Vectisian. Both my parents are buried there in the grounds of one of the little local Parish Churches.
My wife and I return quite frequently when opportunity and time avails.
