Swan - A splendid day for a sail

A refreshing 2 hour sail on the Swan this afternoon off Scalloway. It was a 'peerie' bit windy.

Just back from her last day's sailing for the season. This time the weather was alot more kind. It was a training day so we got up the mainsail, foresail and the jib. Perfect day. Now it is time for her winter lay up.

Fine Picture CED, were you having problems - noticed the main boom on the deck and not in a gallows.

No probs at all Steve. The day was Force 7 to gale force 8. We motored up Weisdale Voe then put up the foresail just to let the primary 7 bairns on board have a "peerie" tast of sail. Unfortunatley the engine was never off that day.

The Swan first took to the water on 3rd May 1900 and is traditional Fifie. Now a sail training vessel run by the Swan Trust and skippered by Jane.

Now Coastie, an attractive lady like CED could not have been at the launching, she would have been far to young [=P]
