Gday Brent, any idea why they flew the Antiguan flag while having Brake as a port of registry?

Hi Cisco--sorry, no idea. The modern ownership/registration/flag thing totally baffles me. I'm sure someone on this site will enlighten us.
Regards, Brent

I must confess ive never heard of Brake, but im sure the main reason would be for tax purposes.A shame to see the demise of another shipping coy.Cheers. Paul

Unless there is also one in the Windies, which I doubt, Brake is a small town/port on the river Weser about halfway between Bremerhaven and Bremen. In fact about 25km from where I'm writing this.
No idea about the flag, common sense says it should be German, but common sense went out of the porthole in shipping many years ago.

Antigua and Germany made an agreement some years ago where German owners could flag their ships in Antigua (hence the Flag) but paint their 'port of preference' (hence the German name) on the stern as opposed to the Antiguan Port of Registry (which would be St Johns).
