Greetings,

Thats a bonny and businesslike looking ship.

According to Miramar she was completed 31/5/68 by Litton Ingalls, Pascagoula East, jumboised in 1972 and converted to containers.

yep cmakin, it's a MARAD designation C4-S-69A "Sea Master" class cargo ship. AKA to those of us that sailed on them, the "Sea Monster" class..

whats the little crane like things on top nos 2 and 4 goalposts ???
I'm not quite sure but they look like some kind of a crane boom (like you'd see on a Hagglund type crane). Just guessing, that they maybe were used married up with the jumbo for 'heavy lifts'..

The Sea Monsters...aren't they the ones with only ONE boiler ? When it got salted up you had a small gas turbine in the shaft alley that coupled into the propeller shaft ? And you could only go 6 knots.....astern ?

Please tell me all this is wrong....
