An interesting ship, but it was too far away for me to see properly; not that I would have known what it was without seeing a name!

Independence and Constitution both had impressive and unusual counter sterns.

Cheers.

Go for C.Y.Tung: CONSTITUTION (C.Y.Tung: OCEANIC CONSTITUTION 1974-1982; A.E.L.: CONSTITUTION 1951-1974) refitting at Kaoshiung 1982.

Thanks for the excellent update CVB; my records seems to suggest that Constitution was being being re-fitted by CSBC at Kaohsiung during 1982 and whilst the Independence enjoyed a similar stay, it is almost certain that this one is as you wisely say Constitution

In 1982, with OCEANIC CONSTITUTION being refitted at Kaohsiung and OCEANIC INDEPENDENCE for repairs at San Francisco, they were renamed resp. CONSTITUTION and INDEPENDENCE.

That is the Constitution. The Independence had windscreens installed aft of the lower enclosed promenade in the late 1960s. The 'Connie' did not have the screens installed.
