What a great photo ! - what vessel was it taken from ?
65 feet long ARAHINA was built in 1925 by Charles Bailey Jr, of Auckland for the Wellington Harbour Board. The vessel underwent a major re-fit in 1979 and was re-engined with a 193 bhp Kelvin diesel which replaced a 150 hp Fairbanks-Morse diesel engine. In 1987 she was sold for use as a pleasure craft in the Malborough Sounds. She is an excellent seaboat and was very popular with her WHB masters and crew.

G'day Emmanuel, the photo was taken when I was in the "Darwin Trader" some time in 1982 I think. She finished on the Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin run. Had the gantries removed, cell guides fitted to the two bulk hatches then went on a three weekly run doing Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers.
thanks for the info.
Regards, Roy.
