WOLLONGBAR (11) 2,239 gross tons, 874 net. Lbd: 285'1" x 42'1" x 23'9". Steel steamship of two funnels built by Lithgows Ltd., Glasgow, to replace vessel of same name wrecked Byron Bay, 1921. 218 horsepower. Capable of 20 knots. This replacement vessel along with the Orara became very popular for passengers in a service that ran Sydney to Byron Bay and from there connected to Brisbane via omnibus. Torpedoed by Japanese submarine off Crescent Head, New South Wales, 29 April 1943. No passengers aboard however 32 crew perished with only five survivors
