In the mid 50s I visited the RNVR stone frigate in Hull followed by a motor around one of the docks aboard HMS Humber, (HMS Bronington, Charlie’s boat, Beverley built). Question, where was the building located and is it still there?

I am sure someone with local connections will help in due course. I can tell you from my own sources that HMS GALATEA at this time was the RNVR Base in Hull that was situated on Earles Road, off Hedon Road, which leads down to the area between Alexandra Dock and Victoria Dock. It was paid off in 1958. Not sure what happened to the building afterwards.

Many thanks Hugh, that’s a starter, that area has been greatly ’developed’ since the demise of Victoria dock. I will have to look into some older maps. Earles road would have been access to Earles shipbuilding at earlier date.

A Sea Scout is the nautical version of a Boy Scout. I was maybe 10 or 12 years old when I was a member so at best I'm talking about 70 years ago. I believe the street it was on was a little bit farther away from the town centre and on the opposite side of the road to Bean st.
