I was in St.Thomas one Friday afternoon (working on the original Sun Princess -ex: Spirit of London) 30 March 1979, and witnessed the first wisps of smoke appear from portholes of the ANGELINA LAURO after a fire broke out in the crew galley. By the time we sailed (late) at 0200hrs she was ablaze from stem to stern. Her berth at the entrance of St.Thomas gave every arrival for the next three months a view of the consequences of a fire on board.

Nicholas,
Thanks for the info. I do recall seeing a newspaper/magazine pic of her capsizing following the fire. A sad end for a very good ship.
