The ferry in the foreground looks like a converted Fairmile. The area certainly looks quite a bit different these days. The railways tracks have long gone and the Holden car has probably been recycled into a Jap import. Ship looks like a Shaw Savill vessel but after my time
Think the SSA Ship is either Zealandic or Laurentic - any idea of the Date this picture was talen Tony C.
I think this is/was the best berth in down? Right at the end of the Main Street. With the white line down the pavement to ease congestion for shoppers.
At the time I was actually taking photo's of the construction work going on at the Trillos Down Town complex, but couldn't resist swinging my camera towards the water front, sorry waiwera not sure of the date.
Hi, the Vessel lower left at launch steps is the Ngaroma ex fairmile, Center pic is the Iris Moana, behind that is the floating jetty for Leo Dromgools Hydrofoil (Manu-Wai) the SS ship is megantic and to the right of the fairmile center is a dark coloured car (closest) thats mine, was working on hydrofoil that day. what a coincidence. Thanks TC
Hi Duncan, well I'll be dammed you are right. Odd how the mind can remember some things but hazy about the others. Great photo though, of days long gone. I also remember the white center line on footpaths up Queen st.
