A turbine version of the "Adelaide Star". Built by Cammell Laird's, Birkenhead she was a turbine steamer of 11,779 tons.
In October 1963 she sailed from Auckland with the biggest single cargo of dairy produce ever to leave New Zealand. On board she had 6,700 tons of butter, 1,750 tons of cheese, 470 tons of casein and 1.350 tons of milk powder. The cargo was valued at about 2,750,000 pounds sterling (1963 pounds at that)
