STV Local: Skipper David Gatt, 25, told the Press and Journal last night: Things happened quick, really quick. By the time the engineer went down the water was already above the engine. He went down after the power started to fluctuate and the bilge alarm went off. He called me down and said there was nothing he or anyone could do we had to turn around and abandon ship. The coastguard said it was currently unclear what had caused the boat, which is 30m long and weights in at nearly 440 tons, to sink.
