some further detail and background on the above pic.
Henry Castle & Son operated a shipbreakers yard from the mid nineteenth century from the Millbank site and most of the unuseable timbers were sold as fire wood in the area. The figureheads (from left to right) were from HMS Princes Royal (1853), HMS Cresst (1853) and HMS Colossus (1854) The two supporting angles, above the gate came from HMS Ocean (1804) The yard closed in 1912 and the Baltic Wharf was badly bombed in 1942
