Renamed City of Valletta in 1974, sold on by Ellermans in 1980, and became Kota Jade. Sailed on her in late 1978, down to the meddy and back, my final trip with Ellermans.

I was 3rd mate on the Athenian in 1974, also sailed on the Sorrento and Mediteranian. Nice ships but a bit of a work up loading citrus fruit in Isreal

This ship started life as the 'Salerno' for Ellermans Wilson Line out of Hull. I remember walking into Wilson's offices when I was at Trinity House and asking for drawings of the ship as I wanted to make a model of it. They duly gave me a copy of the actual ships building drawings, very impressed! Spent the next year building a scale model of it in my Dad's greenhouse for the annual school model competition. Always wondered what became of her.
Thanks for posting it aj.
