John,
I once sailed on the MV Palindrome... it was a bit of a push-me pull-you looking vessel but at NOON each day, a MADAM with a PUP on a lead approached in a KAYAK. We never saw her on RADAR even if the sea was LEVEL, her DEED each day was to find a REVIVER on board.
With the exception of the initial posting, the rest of you have made a brilliant job...
Paedrig, I guess they are not Swedes then?
John Shaw has cleverly viewed the ship from the Port Bow through a mirror, in his quest for an answer: Maybe a case of any Sort in Ptorm
As for Rick, is there no end to your talents? - I think the lady you refer to was the one who wanted to sell "A nut for a jar of tuna", although this idea failed as she had nowhere to "Tie it", so in the end she merely criticised the crew for their lack of a proper ensign, with that well known nautical phrase: "Flag Alf"
Done a bit more digging and LLoyds Index of *20/09/1999* shows her still
"at Port Blair awaiting tow ", after which she drops off the Index.
Ironically , just before the fire , the internal repairs were fully completed.
The plot thickens as Sinha Shipping are Mumbai registered so Indian owned....
then to confuse matters another bulker was renamed "Arti" in early 1997,
this was the ex Great Eastern Shipping Co.'s " Jag Rani", 1976 / 34,135 dwt.. I assume a replacement for the damaged one ....
So, looks like she finally went to the breakers in 1999 after 6 years in Port Blair.
