B.Q's engines were very similar to Waverley's being built by Rankin & Blackmore at their Eagle Foundry - Greenock.

A crying shame neither the Bristol or her sister the Cardiff were preserved.
Despite the open bridge, they look a lot more modern than the Waverley, despite them being launched within a year of each other!

Another one of your great images of the Bristol Area, and the River Avon, I once used to swim in that river just up on the horse-shoe bend of which I am sure you would know, and recall the Bristol Queen well. Regards Clive.

First steam ship I ever sailed on in about 1949/50 as a passenger from Barry down to Ilfracombe and back. I was the only one in the family who wasn't seasick!
