Saw her launched when I was a wee boy. Think she was the biggest ship ever built at Barrow up to that time anyway.

She was the largest tanker when launched on December 2nd 1955 by Lady Weeks wife of Sir Ronald Weeks chairman of Vickers Ltd.
At the time she had the distinction of having the the largest power rating for a single screw merchant ship at 20,000 s.h.p.

Sailed on her as Radio Officer in 1959 on Persian Gulf/Europe run. Capt.Kyriakis,Master. Liam Moran,San Francisco June 16th 2013

She was featured in a childhood book How to Draw Ships I think it was called and she appeared in other publications because of her futuristic lines.
