In the book I've got about the History of the Newhaven to Dieppe run, it says that the Pagasus 1 wasn't suitbale for the route and was withdrawn after a short period of time. Does anyone know why then SuperSeacats were used later on by Hoverspeed?
Cambria 49 will know - I can tell you it was nothing to do with sutability for the route - it was more to do with sutability to be afloat. Peg 1 & 2 were / are not real good craft to put it mildly.
Pegasus 1 had no T-Foil stabiliser. Finished that first season when she took over from Stena Lynx 1, but hopeless really. That stabiliser seemed to make a difference when the SSC's were brought in, but poor old SSC one only ran on 3 out of four engines most [all??] the time. I preferred the Diamant / Elite / Whatever! over the SSC's.

Correct Dox, I knew one or two of her masters and they did NOT like her. A big problem, apparantly, was her stability - high tensile steel hull with alloy cabin etc. Rolled on wet grass. Whereas the SSC I & II have 3.0m wave height parameters (against the 3.5m of the smaller 74m vessels) the Stena Pegasus was only granted 2.5m.
