An interesting ship used for action on one of these old 1970s American tv detective series'. Don't know if anyone might recognise her. Her name never came into shot unfortunately.

Thanks for posting, 'Fairfield'. OK, being pedantic, but I would slightly question the date as being 1970's. She has, what appears to be, an early Inmarsat "C" satellite comms receiver on the bridge deck. Inmarsat itself, although founded in 1979, began operations in 1982, which would date the photo to more mid 1980's. Can't help with the ID as yet, but I think I have seen this somewhere before. With those big vents, maybe she's a roll-on roll-off stern loading cargo ship, not a bulker and we are looking at the after accommodation, as from the hull form that appears to be the stern mooring spring. Lot of people on the main deck mind, so maybe carrying some, but not a lot of, passengers?

I did see a shot of her stern and she wasn't a ro-ro, just a normal cruiser stern.

Could be one of the Zim container ships built in Genoa? Italy in the early seventies.

Steam turbine ships, they had twin funnels with a slight cant outboard.

Fairly disasterous too, from what I recall.

Not one of the Zims as the accommodation was right at the stern. Certainly fits Vestan which I see was called TANGA from 1982-92 which would fit in with the mid-80s date of the tv series.

For me, I don't think "Vestan" or the later "Tanga", as for one thing the side of the bridge is completely different, this one is very "slab" sided from the wheelhouse down to the boat deck, whereas "Vestan" has an extra deck. Number and configuration of windows doesn't fit either and lifeboat davits are different.
