Ships Nostalgia banner

I do not know the story behind this but there it is! A Viking longship moored behind a boatyard in Williamstown. No noticable increase in pillaging or long haired blondes wearing funny hats with horns.

Jeff,

That would be an unusual find in Melbourne, I wonder if somebody had her shipped to OZ and things became a bit too much for him. Were you able to see if the hull was in good shape?

Jim, I did not notice the longship until I unloaded my days shooting. I took this on a 300mm lens and cropped the shot for SN. I originally framed the shot because of the number of wooden boats on the slips and only afterwards identified the longboat. I assume because it is floating that it is in good condition, and that it is a modern reproduction. Built where? I am not sure but I think it is Blunt's boat yard - they have been building traditional wooden boats for some time. I will need to do some homework on this. JeffM
