These are hanging in La Tavernetta on deck 12 of Costa Victoria. I just spent 3 weeks on board her from Buenos Aires to Savona, the paintings above are just two of those that are on display in the lounge, due to the glass protection on them and the huge windows in the lounge it was difficult to photograph them well enough, however they are beautiful and show the old ships from Costa. The crew is very proud of their artwork and take great care of each piece.

I remember this room very well! Great Pizza there! Stephen's art work was well represented onboard the Victoria. During the maiden voyage you could buy a set of postcards of every one of these paintings. Unfortunately, they were sold out almost immediately! I don't believe they were ever re-issued again. Stunning art work!

Thanks your kind comments.

Unfortunately it was necessary to put the paintings under glass. Eager stewards have a nasty habbit of wiping down paintings with a damp and dirty rags that simply wear the paint away within a few years.

These two paintings were part of a collection of ten pieces I made for the ship. A most enjoyable commission made even more so by being able to paint them in my temporary 'studio' overlooking the sea at Quinto, near Genoa.

I had two great maritime historians, (both working for Costa at the time) Maurizio Eliseo and Paolo Piccione, stopping in frequently to inspect the work. When the work was finally delivered Paolo made a comment, "Better than what we had hoped for!"
