May have been ? ? Dant of States Lines with different funnel logo, the first two initials the grey cells refuse to remember at the moment.
Cheers,
David
Hi David...There was a C.E.DANT type C4S1A .
and a CHARLES.E.DANT type C2EB1 .both named after the same owner/director I believe.
Looks like a Mariner class to me.
I think that is the Pacific Transport Line's 'M. M. Dant' after PTL had been bought by States Steamship Lines in 1954.
The PTL fleet was merged into the States fleet in 1957.
A C4-S-1a, built in 1953 as the 'Wolverine Mariner' by Bethlehem Steel at Quincy, MA, she later became the 'M. M. Dant' and then the 'Arizona' in the States Marine fleet.
As Scorcher says, it may have been the 'C. E. Dant', although I can't find any reference to her being in PTL service.
Dant was the States Steamship's owning family and those two members, were, I think, the only ones having a Company ship named after them.
Scrapped in 1980 after layup in the Reserve Fleet.
Update....there is a jpeg of M.M.DANT on e-bay at present and it is not the above vessel.
M.M.DANT has goal post kingposts,4 x decks on superstructure, and the funnel
looks squatter and squarer. so back to square one.(POP)
Update to the update....The M.M.DANT on E-Bay is the vessel built in1962 1274 tgr and is a C4-S-IU type
with a sister C.E.DANT.
I was confused between the M.M.DANT b/as ARIZONA
1953 12711 tgr a C4-S-1A type and her sister
C.E.DANT b/as BUCKEYE MARINER .
Sorry for confusion folks!
I have upgraded my software and am re-editing some unknown items.
This is the C.E.DANT as insert shows although there appears to be no record
of her in Pacific colours.
Just to underline the value of making the title in line with the guidelines, try doing a search on C.E. DANT or even DANT the results does not produce this ship that is because she is entered here without the all important space.
This is not a criticism, it is merely a passing comment on why we do try to ensure the title of the image is the name of the ship; in this case she is C.E. DANT
