John, think they changed the name of your Anchises to Alcinous, when this Anchises left the yard in Japan in 1973. I was on some of those old A boats too.

Alan, the Blue Funnel bulkers of the 70s were on the worldwide spot charter market not the usual liner service of regular Blue Funnel and Glen Line ships. They were great ships to be on, not knowing where you were going from trip to trip. It made a welcome change to the liner service.

I coasted the old Anchises in 1964 then went deep sea as supernumerary to pick up a "round the worlder" in Singapore. Had to wait there for 10 days for the "Telamon". What an experience for a rookie!
